We have the venue we wanted now all we need is you
We are delighted to announce that we have secured the use of one of the best hockey facilities in the country for our World Record Attempt and our first Charity Hockey Festival.
Highfields Sports Centre in Nottingham provides everything we need to provide you with a great weekend. Centrally based with easy access from the motorway network it is our ideal venue. Compact so everyone can be around the action it should provide a great atmosphere for our record attempters.
Firstly the fine water based astro will be the pitch used for our Longest Outdoor Hockey Match World Record Attempt. We have already had an excellent response to our request for players and expect to close entries for the teams when we have around 60 applicants. We have invited two international players to captain the sides and we will reveal who they are once they have confirmed their availability. The only criteria other applicants must fulfill is that they can last a game of at least 24 hours with only minimal rest. We hope we can attract players from all levels of our game and make this a record everyone can identify with. We are putting together a mini website that will explain the game rules in full and have application forms for you to download. 32 players will be in the 2 squads and another 12 will be invited to make up a Men's festival squad and be on standby for the WRA should anyone have a last minute injury or unavailability. Those who agree to act as reserves will play under the NE14Hockey banner and will of course play for free in the festival. Players selected for the teams will be asked to get sponsorship and all monies raised will be donated directly to Cancer Research UK via the Just Giving webpage

We are also looking for 32 companies to sponsor a player each and have their logo feature of the shirt, our website and in the festival programme. If your interested in receiving details of costs and the package please e-mail sales@ne14hockey.com team.
Three areas for 6's hockey means that every game will be on sand based astro and no one will have to play on bumpy old grass. Each team will be guaranteed 7 games over the weekend, 4 on Saturday and 3 on Sunday. There will be games for Men's, Mixed, and Ladies sides but there are limited places so register your interest in attending as soon as you. The entry fee is £120 a team and you can have up to 12 players in a squad. There will be an application form on the site soon and we will need them returned with a £50 deposit by the end of May. At this stage you only need to e-mail ultimate@ne14hockey.com to get yourself on the list
Food will be available throughout both days and we will have a disco and Grand Charity Auction on Saturday night so the fun goes through into the early hours if you can stand the pace. We will be inviting manufacturers and sports shops to donate equipment and kit as items in the auction as all proceeds will once again go to Cancer Research UK.
FREE Camping will be available on site for those who don't want to miss any of the action and we also hope to be able to offer great value accommodation at the nearby University. Prices for this and a list of local hotels will be put on the mini site when details have been confirmed.
We have already agreed one set of shirts for the WRA teams and hope to have the second manufacturer confirmed shortly. Each WRA squad member will have a shirt to keep and a set signed by the players of both squads will be auctioned off after the completion of the match. Players will also get a medal to commemorate their participation and there will be a number of awards including top goal scorer and biggest sponsorship total.
As this record will be run under official rules so that it qualifies for the book we also need adjudicators and umpires so if you are interested in taking part as an official then please e-mail us at admin@ne14hockey.com and we will be in touch.
That's all the news for now but look out for the mini site in the next few days and further news updates soon. We hope to see our Charity Target easily surpassed and we look forward to welcoming you to Nottingham on August 29th and 30th.
